Description: My basement as it is now can be roughly described as the following: one long wall running east-to-west which separates the basement into a north half and a south half ("half is a rough description the north half is larger). The north half is one large finished room. The west wall of this room is entirely brick with a fireplace in it. All other walls of this room are drywall. The south half of the basement contains a small finished room at the base of the stairs a finished bathroom an unfinished storage room and an unfinished furnace/laundry room. There is currently no insulation in any of the basement walls nor in the basement's ceiling. Work to be done: 1.) the drywall on the exterior walls and ceiling in the north half of the basement will be removed. Faced fiberglass insulation will be installed between the studs/joists. New drywall will be installed where the old drywall had been. 2.) a new wall will be added to the north half of the basement. The floor and ceiling joists also run from north to south so this is not a load-bearing wall. The wall has 2 electrical outlets one cold air return grate for the central air system and one light switch for the dining room light. The north end of this wall connects to another wall that runs from east to west which will not be removed. The two electrical outlets will be relocated to this east-west wall.
