Description: Concrete footing for steel flag pole The work is for the concrete footing that will support a 31-foot steel flag pole. Sacramento County Permits office informed me that a planning permit will not be needed for a flag pole, only the permit from Building Inspector for the structural work.The specifications for the hole, concrete cylinder and rebar cage were taken from the Department of Transportation guidelines: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/esc/oe/project_plans/highway_plans/stdplans_US-customary-units_10/viewable_pdf/rspes-16b.pdfThe hole for the footing was dug to a depth of 77 inches. A 11-inch layer of 3/8th crushed rock base was placed and tamped down, to bring the hole depth up to 66 inches. The 66-inch tall rebar cage with the 3-inch adobe base footings brings the cage profile to 3 inches above ground.
