In this video we’re going to discuss the Hazard Analytics Map Layers category.

Being located in California, one of the most common questions in regards to hazards we hear are always around earthquakes. Our Earthquake Risk layer allows you to analyze the earthquake risk throughout the state of California.

Some regions are more susceptible to destructive weather than others. Our Weather Risk layer allows you to understand which locations are and which aren’t.

Air Quality & Wind

Understanding characteristics of wind might not seem that important but talk to anyone that moved into a home that was in a wind tunnel and they will tell you differently. Our Wind Index layer allows you to understand which regions are windier than others.

When inhaled, Ozone can cause all sorts of respiratory diseases, such as asthma, and also compromise the ability of the body to fight respiratory infections. The Ozone layer shows areas where that colourless toxic gas is present.

The air we breathe is our lifeline. Our Air Pollution Index layer scores the relative air quality of any region by combining indices of  Ozone, carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. We can’t help the region’s pollutant levels but at least with this layer we can be aware.

The Carbon Monoxide Index layer visualizes the carbon monoxide  levels  in any given region.

NO2 is often found in auto exhaust fumes and our NO2 Index layer allows you to see which locations have higher  levels of this gas. You will find that major cities have higher NO2 levels than their suburban counterparts due to higher levels of population.

Our Lead Index layer visualizes lead levels in any area. Here in the silicon valley we see much higher levels than in the central valley due to the production of electronics.

The Particulate Matter Index layer could be one of the most important layers for people with allergies to explore. Many of us know people who have moved out of  state due to their allergies.

The Hail Index layer allows you to identify which regions are more susceptible to heavier hail storms.

Hurricanes and Tornadoes

Hurricanes are not top of mind for us Californians but in those regions where this is as important of a topic as earthquakes are for us, our Hurricane Index layer puts you in-the-know of the topic.

Same goes for Tornados. Our Tornado Index layer, gives you the knowledge you need to understand the regions susceptibility of Tornadoes.
